For the past year I have been working out with my friend Anna. We exercise every day doing high intensity cardio or weights. Well, Monday my friend Share asked me to go to a boot camp class with her, and I did not want to go. I like working out with Anna, it's free, and I really didn't want to work out so much in one week. I told Share I wasn't going, and she actually drove to my house and picked me up so I would go with her. The first exercise we did was jump rope. We had to do 50, then went on to do several other exercises with weights. Since I had been working out for so long, I honestly thought I was going to kick Share's booty. Instead, I FAILED MISERABLY! Share whipped out her 50 reps on the jump rope, and I was still at ten. I couldn't do five in a row without wanting to pass out. On the plus side, the weight exercises and abs I was awesome!!! But I couldn't get over the stupid jump rope. I wanted to cry. I wanted to quit working out forever. Well, Tuesday I worked out with Anna, doing 41 minute P90X Insanity workout. I was so sore from Monday, and felt like I would never work out again. Tuesday night Share asked me to join her again, and since my kids were with their dad I decided to go. This time, I was able to do 20 jumps in a row without dying!!! I felt so good, even though I practically pee my pants every time. Well, this morning I could barely walk (sore legs, sore bum, sore abs, sore arms) but went over to Anna's to workout again. I figure I really need the extra so I can lose lots of weight this week. We NEVER jump rope, but since her husband was home he watched her daughter while we went to our club house and did sprint/weight training. We would sprint for 1 minute on the treadmill, walk for 1 minute, then do 2 minutes of different weight exercises, repeat for a total of 10 times. Well, to warm up we did the jump rope, and you guessed it, 50 jumps 3x in a row. Well, I did 35 in a row, and after a short rest finished the other 15 without dying. I feel fantastic!!! I was ready to quit on Monday, and never look at another jump rope again. Now I want to do it every day to see how many I can do in a row without stopping. (FYI, Anna wanted to see how many she could do in a row without stopping, she did 245. She is AWESOME)
The moral of this story is NEVER GIVE UP.
That's awesome Irene. I don't know if I could jump rope period.
