Week One Results....

I have several thoughts about the results of the results... here we go!

1. I can be a little judgemental sometimes. There was 1 girl who lost 17 pounds. She has done this challenge before, and I am pretty sure she is messing with something dishonest here. 17 pounds in one week, really? Ok, I am done with that one.

2. We were second to last. This means we have A HUGE NEED for improvement. This challenge is hard. It is hard to plan your meals, hard to get in exercise, hard to remember to drink lots of water, hard to get in all those vegetables, and hard to communicate everyday. You really need to change your lifestyle, and that is not easy.

3. I've had several friends do this challenge with me, and by week two they gave up because they couldn't handle it. They are still in the same shape because they can't make that mental commitment to actually change the way they live every day. Thank you for being willing to do this challenge. It takes time and energy from your already busy lives, and I know it doesn't help having to sit down every day and calculate how you did. You are already awesome for putting up with all these email messages every day : )

4. I was looking up articles about habits and I found this one that was really interesting: http://www.spring.org.uk/2009/09/how-long-to-form-a-habit.php. He talks about forming and creating habits. When doing research about health and exercise, they are finding that the brain takes longer for it to adjust to major changes. The longer you practice, the better your chances are of keeping that habit. It could take a year or longer for your brain to start thinking in a more healthy way, IF YOU HAVE KEPT HEALTHY HABITS. A year does seem like a long time, but if I look at the past 6 unhealthy years I have had, 1 year seems awfully nice to start getting it right! So after a consistent period of being healthy and eating right, your brain will start thinking healthy automatically.

Let's get week two off to a great start!

  1. Irene, my thoughts exactly on 17 pounds. Did she have a baby?! Did she remove a leg?! Silliness. Glad we're not in her competition.

And I think with us being second to last place means that we're up against some pretty intense teams. So that means there is going to be very little room for error.

We only have 6.5 weeks left to get to our goal, and that will go by pretty quick! Good luck everyone! Let's move up the rankings!
